Hobbies and interests:
Genealogy
Since 1999 I have been researching the Sublett family name. See Sublett.org for a detailed family tree and other information about the Sublett family.
I have also created Huguenot.net, a Web site portal for researchers and descendants of Calvinist refugees from France, including my ancestors.
Comic book / magazine collecting
My collection comprises more than 10,000 comic books -- mostly Marvel Comics -- from the 1960s to the present, including all Spider-Man comics published since the late '60s and most other Marvel Comics published since the late '80s. I also collect magazines, movie posters, toys, and other collectibles.
Science Fiction / Star Trek
I have over a hundred Star Trek novels, technical manuals, and other science-fiction books and magazines, plus several celebrity autographs, and have seen every Star Trek episode and movie several times; see my Web site, TrekGuide.com, for information I have compiled over many years of watching the program.
Movies
A Film Studies minor in college, I have seen thousands of movies, and have several hundred on tape.
My favorite genres are detective/noir, gangster, suspense, and action/drama.
My favorite movies include: Casablanca, Highlander, The Maltese Falcon, Chinatown, and Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country.
My favorite actors include: Humphrey Bogart, Nicolas Cage, and Robert De Niro.
My favorite actresses include: Ashley Judd, Madeleine Stowe, Angelina Jolie, Natalie Portman, and Gina Gershon.
My favorite directors include: Robert Rodriguez, M. Night Shyamalan, Quentin Tarantino, and Steven Spielberg.
Writing / Publishing
I have written and illustrated several comic strips for the Tahoe Daily Tribune and the State Hornet newspaper: See "The Days after tomorrow" Web site.
I also have written several movie reviews for the State Hornet newspaper:
I am currently working as a newspaper editor. See a few news pages that I have designed.
Web site design
Since 1997 I have been designing Web sites for my own amusement and, more recently, working professionally on sites for other organizations. See Web sites created by Phillip L. Sublett for a complete listing of sites I have created.
